PERSIBA RELEASE DE JONG FOR INDISCIPLINE

JAKARTA (5 May 2011) – Indonesian Super League (ISL) side Persiba Balikpapan have decided to part ways with Philippines international midfielder Jason de Jong.
Citing indiscipline and the failure to consistently attend training, the management at Persiba Balikpapan have officially ended their contract with De Jong.
De Jong was signed by Persiba for just half a season of the ISL for the sum of IDR 500 million (USD58,000).
The team then felt that they needed a calibre midfield player and that was the reason why de Jong was signed after the AFF Suzuki Cup 2010.
“Jason De Jong has proven to be unable to fulfil his duty as a player for Persiba. And in accordance with the contract, the management has the right to rescind it when a player fails in his duties,” said Muhdar from Persiba’s Legal Affairs.
With de Jong only serving Persiba for just three months, his last drawn salary for April will be for only IDR 48million (USD5,600).
