Younghusbands lead National Games opener

MANILA, Philippines – Filipino-British football siblings Phil and James Younghusband will lead the opening ceremonies of the National Games at the New Government Center in Bacolod City on Sunday.

The Younghusbands will be the guests of honor in the event organized by the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) and Philippine Sports Commission (PSC).
At least 4,000 athletes will participate in the Games that will run until May 29.

"We're really big on sports and promoting sports not just football but all sports, because sports can be the cure of everything," said Phil.
While in Bacolod, the brothers also conducted a free football clinic which was attended by more than 200 aspiring footballers of the province.
"Sports is a great antidote to everything, it not only has social benefits, it's also entertaining, it brings people together, brings enjoyment out of it, like...you look at all the big sporting events in the world," James said.

After the Games, the Younghusband will rejoin their Philippine Azkals teammates for their preparations against Sri Lanka.
The Azkals will battle Sri Lanka in the FIFA World Cup qualifier which begins on June 29.
