Baguio: Regular football league mulled in Baguio City

A REGULAR fixture of football tournament is set to greet the city after a private firm affirmed to support the grassroots development of the sport in the Summer Capital.

With Goshen Land Capital promising to back more football tournaments in the city, the first Mayor Domogan Football Cup is ready to kick off this coming weekend at the Melvin Jones Football grounds with six teams seeing action in the premiere Men’s open division.

But aside from the football competition, there will be an 11–a–side exhibition match featuring Pinsao Football Club and Baguio City National High School in their g-strings for a 20 minute game.
 


“The football cup will be an arena for public school children and other teams to have a competitive football tournament to enhance their character and football skills,” said Goshen Land chief executive officer Alex Bangsoy during Monday’s tournament.

Aside from the men’s open, age group competitions will also see action in the month long weekend tournament organized by the Baguio United Football Club also set to draw top lady booters from all over in another division.

The tournament will be an 11- a-side game for men's teams, and 7-a-side for the ladies' open and all age groups. All age groups are open for boys’ and girls' categories.

The age group competitions will include the 16, 14, 12, 10 and 8 under age group categories.

Registration fee is pegged at P1,000 for the men's open while all other categories will be at P500.
