Filipinos came to enjoy a friendly match between the Philippine National Football Team and the UFL All-Star players last Sunday afternoon at the University of Makati Football Field.
It was the first time that most of the bleachers were occupied by Football fans and by some who came to see the Azkals in person. It was also the first time for most of the audience to witness how UFL athletes can play at par with the national team, even surpassing the Azkals by one goal sealed by UFL's top scorer Izo Elhabib from Global Smartmatic, national team manager Dan Palami's team in UFL.
Soccer Central Philippines (SCP) was able to get some feedback from the audience, including Sen. Miguel Zubiri himself.
SCP: What do you think of the game, sir?
Tony Gonzales: I think the Azkals' defense was not good.
SCP: How about the UfL All-Stars?
TG: Oh, they did very well, considering that the Azkals get all the publicity.
SCP: Which team were you rooting for, the national team or the UFL All-Stars?
Joan: Actually, the Azkals. The national team. But based on what I saw today, I'm not sure if they can really make it to the World Cup [Qualifying matches]. but of course they still don't have their defenders from Europe.
SCP: Have you watched UFL games before?
Joan: Only on TV. It was just a [match] feature.
SCP: Sir, how do you think Football will be a big thing in the Philippines?
Se. Miguel Zubiri: Oh my gosh. We should play this all over the country, [with the help of] Philippine Football Federation. It should be promoted all over the country. Source
