MANILA, Philippines -- The Philippine “Teen Azkals” lost to Cambodia in the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Under-16 Youth Championship 2011 on Friday.
Cambodia, led by Nub Tola, outscored the Philippine team, 2-1.
“There are certain improvements which we need to work on especially in the passing and evading markers,” said Cambodia’s head coach Daisuke Yoshikoa in the tournament’s official website.
“But winning is always good,” he added.
The Teen Azkals' Ryu Nell Fegidero scored the lone goal for the Philippines in the first half.
However, Fegidero was sent off in the dying minutes of the game after he picked up a second booking.
The Teen Azkals will try to make amends when they face Singapore on Sunday.
The Philippines is bracketed together with Cambodia, Myanmar, Vietnam, and Singapore in the tournament’s Group B. Source
