BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP)—Diego Maradona has said on Argentine TV that his successor as national coach must be “drunk” for suggesting Manchester City forward Carlos Tevez is not needed for the Copa America.
Sergio Batista said Tevez was not required because he had players like Barcelona’s Lionel Messi and Real Madrid’s Gonzalo Higuain who played in the same position.
“You would have to be drunk or stoned not to call up Tevez,” Maradona told the TyC sports

Maradona meets with Dubai club Al Wasl
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP)—Diego Maradona is in the United Arab Emirates amid reports linking him with a coaching vacancy at domestic club Al Wasl.
The 50-year-old Argentine soccer icon, who has been out of coaching since he led Argentina to the 2010 World Cup quarterfinals, visited the club’s training facility Saturday.
A UAE sports newspaper, Sport 360, quoted a club official as saying it was in talks to hire Maradona.
